Lekompo musician Shebe Maburna is expected to return to the Polokwane High Court on Friday in a renewed effort to overturn the court’s decision denying him bail.
The artist is appealing the judgment delivered after his latest bail application, which was brought on what his legal team argued were new facts, was dismissed last month.
Shebe Maburna is facing 20 criminal charges, including three counts of attempted murder.
The musician has remained in custody since his arrest in November last year.
This will not be his first attempt to secure release. He previously applied for bail twice in the magistrate’s court, but both applications were unsuccessful. Earlier this year, he also approached the High Court to appeal the decision, but that application was dismissed.
Now, he has returned to the High Court once again in an attempt to challenge the latest ruling and seek release pending trial.
Separate from the bail proceedings, Shebe Maburna is also expected back in the Polokwane Regional Court on 10 July 2026 for a pre-trial hearing.
The case remains before the courts and the musician remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
