
The family of Mpilo Shezi is searching for answers following the sudden death of the 13-year-old boy from KwaMashu.
According to relatives, Mpilo was reportedly healthy and showed no signs of illness before consuming an energy drink he had purchased from a local spaza shop in his community.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 9 June, when Mpilo allegedly bought the drink from a spaza shop in D Section, KwaMashu.
Family members claim that after consuming the beverage, the teenager’s condition deteriorated, prompting his loved ones to rush him to a nearby clinic for medical assistance.
Tragically, Mpilo later passed away.
The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, and the family says they are awaiting answers regarding what may have led to the youngster’s sudden death.
The incident has sparked concern among community members, with many calling for a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Authorities are expected to investigate the matter, including whether the energy drink or any other factors may have contributed to the boy’s death.
The Shezi family says they hope the investigation will provide clarity and help them understand what happened to their son.
