President Cyril Ramaphosa has wished former president Jacob Zuma a speedy recovery, saying he hopes the uMkhonto weSizwe Party leader will recover soon and return to serving South Africans in whatever capacity he can.
Ramaphosa said the Surgeon-General of the South African National Defence Force had been fully briefed on Zuma’s health condition and confirmed that the former president was receiving medical treatment.
“We need him to be up and running so that he can get back to serving the people of South Africa in whichever way,” Ramaphosa said.
Zuma’s health attracted public attention this week following reports that he had been admitted to hospital. The MK Party subsequently said he had completed a routine medical check-up and was in good health and spirits.
Further details about Zuma’s condition have not been publicly disclosed.
