EFF Member of Parliament Naledi Chirwa has confirmed that she was the politician arrested at Brooklyn Police Station on Thursday night, breaking her silence following reports of the incident.
In a statement shared publicly, Chirwa thanked those who had contacted her to check on her wellbeing, confirming that she was recovering after what she described as an “undesirable incident” at the police station.
She revealed that she had visited an emergency room to have her injuries documented and accused police Colonel Dintwe of assaulting her during a confrontation at the station.
Chirwa said she was now ready to return to her duties and welcomed the prospect of the matter proceeding through the legal process.
Her statement comes after reports emerged that an EFF MP had been arrested at Brooklyn Police Station on Thursday.
