Paris Saint-Germain made history after defeating Liverpool FC 2-0 at Anfield, securing a place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the third consecutive season.
The French giants matched their first-leg victory to complete a 4-0 aggregate win, eliminating Liverpool for the second year in a row.
Liverpool came into the match hoping to stage a famous comeback, backed by a passionate home crowd. However, it was PSG who created the more dangerous chances early on.
Ousmane Dembélé was at the heart of the action, first threatening with an early effort before later making the breakthrough.
Despite Liverpool’s attacking intent, PSG remained composed and disciplined, holding onto their aggregate advantage going into halftime.
In the second half, Liverpool increased the pressure, with chances falling to Cody Gakpo and Joe Gomez. A potential penalty was also overturned by VAR, adding to the home side’s frustration.
But PSG delivered the decisive blow with under 20 minutes remaining. Dembélé cut inside and produced a clinical finish to extend the lead.
The French side sealed the victory in stoppage time when Bradley Barcola set up Dembélé for his second goal of the night.
The result sees PSG eliminate yet another English club, having now knocked out five English sides in the Champions League knockout stages over the past two seasons.
Dembélé was named Man of the Match for his standout performance.
For Liverpool, the defeat marks a disappointing end to their European campaign, with pressure now mounting to secure a top-five finish in the league.
