President Ramaphosa Awarded Honorary Doctorate in International Relations by Universiti Malaya

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been conferred an honorary Doctorate in International Relations by Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 27, 2025.

The recognition celebrates Ramaphosa’s contributions to global diplomacy, human rights, and international negotiation, further solidifying his legacy as one of Africa’s most respected statesmen.

The conferral ceremony was led by the Chancellor of Universiti Malaya, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, and attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

In his acceptance speech, Ramaphosa dedicated the honor to the people of South Africa, saying it reflects their collective struggle for democracy, freedom, and justice.

The President also used the platform to call for renewed global efforts toward lasting peace in Gaza and the realization of a two-state solution, emphasizing South Africa’s continued commitment to global justice and peace.

This prestigious accolade places Ramaphosa alongside Nelson Mandela, who received a similar honorary degree from the same university in 1990, marking another symbolic connection between the two leaders.
