Following his appearance at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala has been detained at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre instead of the Kokstad supermax facility.
Matlala appeared alongside 12 co-accused, with proceedings forming part of ongoing legal matters against him.
The decision to transfer him comes after his legal representative argued that detention in Kokstad — located far from Pretoria — made it difficult to consult effectively and prepare for court proceedings.
The court granted the request, allowing Matlala to be held closer to where the case is being heard.
He is expected to remain at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre until 7 April 2026, as the matter continues.
