Media personality, poet and author Ntsiki Mazwai has received 267 votes in the 2026 Local Government Elections after contesting for the position of Johannesburg mayor under the Land Party.
Mazwai was unveiled as the party’s mayoral candidate in July, entering a crowded race to lead South Africa’s economic hub.
At the time of announcing her candidacy, she said her campaign would focus on improving service delivery, restoring residents’ dignity, addressing housing challenges and repairing the city’s infrastructure.
She also outlined the party’s position on immigration and employment, advocating for a workforce made up of 90% South Africans and 10% foreign nationals.
The 267 votes reflect the figure reported in the current election count. Mazwai’s entry into the mayoral race marked a move from her career in media and activism into electoral politics.
