Ngizwe Mchunu has declared that Julius Malema is no longer welcome in KwaZulu-Natal, following his remarks about KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Speaking at a rally in Durban, Mchunu accused Malema of disrespecting key figures, including the Zulu King and former President Jacob Zuma, while defending Mkhwanazi.
He criticised Malema’s comments, stating:
“Malema attacked Mkhwanazi unnecessarily. He should have waited.”
Serious Allegations Raised
Mchunu went further, making serious corruption allegations against the Economic Freedom Fighters leader. He claimed Malema had long been linked to corruption and alleged that Floyd Shivambu had previously told him that Malema irregularly claimed R10 million from Ekurhuleni in one month.
“The EFF chairperson and Shivambu are testimony… they told me these things when they were trying to lure me to join the EFF, and I refused,” Mchunu alleged.
He also claimed that Malema once attempted to use Mkhwanazi against him during preparations for a Bhinca Nation rally.
Political Fallout Expected
The remarks are likely to intensify political tensions, particularly involving the Economic Freedom Fighters.
At the time of publication, there has been no immediate response from Malema or the EFF regarding the allegations.
