Mncwango says ActionSA will not enter eThekwini coalition with parties that ignore illegal immigration

ActionSA KwaZulu-Natal leader and eThekwini mayoral candidate Zwakele Mncwango says the party will not work with political organisations that are unwilling to address undocumented immigration in the city.

Mncwango has made the issue a key condition for any coalition agreement following the 2026 Local Government Elections.

He says ActionSA wants undocumented foreign nationals who do not have valid immigration documents to face stricter enforcement of the law in eThekwini.

The party has also proposed banning undocumented foreign nationals from operating businesses in the city and establishing a dedicated unit within the Durban Metro Police to deal with illegal immigration.

Mncwango has previously clarified that ActionSA’s position is directed at undocumented immigration, rather than foreign nationals who are legally in South Africa.

The party’s stance could become a significant factor in coalition negotiations, particularly if no political organisation secures an outright majority in eThekwini.

Mncwango’s position means parties seeking ActionSA’s support will have to consider its demands on immigration enforcement as part of any potential coalition agreement. (IOL)
