MK PARTY APPOINTS NEW SECRETARY-GENERAL AFTER ANOTHER SHAKE-UP

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has appointed Sibonelo Nomvalo as its new Secretary-General (SG), replacing Bongani Mncwango, who was relieved of his duties on 12 March 2026.

Nomvalo currently serves as a Member of Parliament and has gained attention for his role in Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption within the criminal justice system.

The appointment comes amid another leadership shake-up within the party. According to reports, the MK Party has also removed its Head of Elections, Bongani Baloyi, from his position.

Since the party’s formation in 2023, the Secretary-General position has seen frequent changes, with at least seven individuals holding the role. These include Thanduxolo Dyodo, Sfiso Maseko, Arthur Zwane, Sihle Ngubane, and Floyd Shivambu, who was removed after an unauthorised trip to Malawi.

Following Shivambu’s removal, the post remained vacant before Dr Mncwango was appointed. Nomvalo now becomes the latest leader tasked with stabilising the influential position within the party.
