ActionSA’s Xolani Khumalo wins Ekurhuleni Ward 6, becomes councillor-elect

ActionSA’s Xolani Khumalo has won Ward 6 in the City of Ekurhuleni during the 2026 Local Government Elections, securing a seat in the municipal council.

Khumalo, whose full name is Suprise Xolani Khumalo, contested the ward under the ActionSA banner.

The victory marks a significant result for ActionSA in Ekurhuleni, where the party has been competing for representation across several wards.

According to provisional results from the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), ActionSA received 41.8% of the ward vote, with 217 votes counted in its favour in the reported results.

The African National Congress (ANC) followed with 28.7%, while the Democratic Alliance (DA) received 8.3%. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) also recorded 8.3%, with independent candidates collectively receiving 4.6%.

The figures were recorded from one of the seven voting districts in Ward 6, with further results still being processed at the time of the update.

Khumalo is listed by the IEC as ActionSA’s candidate for both the Ward 6 councillor position and the party’s proportional representation (PR) list in Ekurhuleni.

His election comes as ActionSA seeks to strengthen its presence in the metro and increase its influence in municipal governance.

The final allocation of seats in Ekurhuleni will depend on the completion of the IEC’s counting, verification and announcement processes.
