A South African motorist has sparked widespread debate after publicly confronting police officers who allegedly accepted a R2,000 bribe during an incident in Diepsloot.
The confrontation, which was streamed live on Facebook by Andre Snyman on 6 June 2026, has since gone viral, drawing renewed attention to allegations of corruption within the South African Police Service.
According to Snyman, an SAPS officer allegedly accepted R2,000 from one of his employees. In the video, he is seen confronting several officers and demanding their identifying details while accusing them of participating in corrupt activities.
“You guys are all taking bribes here. What kind of police are you?” Snyman can be heard saying in the footage.
The video allegedly shows one officer apologising repeatedly, while another claims to have had no knowledge of the alleged bribe. Snyman also questions why the officer accused of accepting the money was not immediately arrested.
The footage quickly gained traction on social media, with many South Africans praising the motorist for confronting the officers and bringing the allegations into the public spotlight.
The incident has reignited discussions around the so-called “cold drink” culture — a term commonly used in South Africa to describe unofficial cash payments allegedly solicited by some law enforcement officials.
At this stage, the allegations remain unproven, and it is unclear whether an official investigation has been launched into the incident.
The viral video has nevertheless intensified public scrutiny of police conduct and renewed calls for stronger action against corruption within law enforcement.
