Three Killed, Including One-Year-Old Child, After Building Collapse in Soweto

Three people, including a one-year-old child and two women, have died following the collapse of a double-storey building in Doornkop, Soweto, on Wednesday morning.

Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) confirmed that six people were inside the building at the time of the collapse.

Emergency responders arrived to find three people trapped beneath the rubble. All trapped victims were successfully extricated and rushed to Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital for medical treatment. Those rescued included two adult women and a child.

Despite rescue efforts, three occupants were declared dead at the scene.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse. Further details are expected as investigations continue.
