Media personality and musician Jub Jub has been released on R5,000 bail after approaching the High Court through an urgent application.
The development comes after earlier indications that he was expected to appear in court at a later stage. However, Jub Jub’s legal team moved urgently to seek his release sooner rather than waiting for the next scheduled appearance.
According to information shared in court, the application questioned why he had not been brought before court earlier and requested that the bail process be dealt with urgently.
The court subsequently ruled that Jub Jub be released on R5,000 bail pending the continuation of the matter.
Jub Jub was arrested following an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, Gauteng. Police previously said he faces charges including kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice.
The matter has now been postponed and he is expected back in court on 22 June 2026.
