Bafana Bafana Visa Crisis Nearing Resolution as Team Prepares to Depart for World Cup

Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie says the visa issues that delayed **South Africa national football team’s departure to the 2026 FIFA World Cup have largely been resolved.

According to McKenzie, all Bafana Bafana players have now received their visas, clearing a major hurdle ahead of the team’s journey to Mexico.

He revealed that only four members of the travelling delegation are still awaiting visas — the assistant coach, team doctor, head of security and one analyst.

McKenzie added that the team’s flight, which had been delayed due to the administrative setback, is now scheduled to depart on Monday.

The update comes as South Africans anxiously await the national team’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Bafana Bafana will begin their campaign with a Group A clash against Mexico.

The resolution of the visa issues is expected to bring relief to players, coaching staff and supporters after concerns that the delays could disrupt the team’s preparations for football’s biggest tournament.
