World-renowned DJ and producer Black Coffee (Nkosinathi Maphumulo) has once again made headlines — this time for reportedly purchasing a $9-million (approx. R160-million) luxury mansion in Cape Town, just a week after finalizing his divorce from actress Mbali Mlotshwa.
The mansion, said to overlook the ocean, marks a new chapter for the Grammy-winning artist, who has spent nearly three decades building his career and brand across global stages.
Speaking on Podcast and Chill with MacG, Black Coffee reflected on his early days in the music industry, recalling how travelling with DJ Christos exposed him to the kind of success he dreamed of.
“I saw him spending money and living a life that I aspired for myself,” Black Coffee shared. “When I realized that it was possible even for a DJ, I never stopped putting in the work.”
Now, almost 30 years later, he’s living that dream — splurging on a property many can only imagine. The DJ says his success is not just about wealth but also about personal healing and fulfillment.
“I want to heal the little boy inside me,” he said.
