ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula appeared to become unwell during a media briefing following the Constitutional Court’s ruling in the party’s favour in its battle to have 181 candidates included in the upcoming local government elections.
The incident occurred when a journalist asked Mbalula about the asylum seeker issue.
Mbalula responded by saying, “I’m not feeling well,” before people sitting close to him quickly moved to support him and help him into a seated position.
The briefing followed the ANC’s court victory, which cleared the way for the party to pursue the inclusion of 181 candidates in the 4 November 2026 local government elections.
