Orlando Pirates continued their encouraging pre-season preparations with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Spanish side Cádiz CF in Marbella on Saturday evening.
The Buccaneers showed resilience after falling behind early in the match, responding with an impressive first-half turnaround to claim their first victory of their Spanish pre-season tour.
New signing Tshepang Moremi was the standout performer, levelling the scores in the 11th minute before turning provider just before the break. The winger delivered an excellent assist for fellow new recruit Daniel Msendami, who calmly found the back of the net in the 44th minute to hand Pirates a 2-1 lead heading into half-time.
Pirates produced a disciplined defensive display in the second half, frustrating the Spanish outfit and preserving their slender advantage until the final whistle.
The victory marks a significant step forward for head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and his squad after they opened their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against Córdoba CF earlier in the week. The result will provide plenty of confidence as the Soweto giants continue their preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Moremi’s goal and assist, combined with Msendami’s composed finish, will also be encouraging signs for Pirates supporters eager to see the club’s new attacking talent make an impact ahead of the new campaign.
