In September 2007, a then-20-year-old Messi, still establishing himself as Barcelona’s next superstar, participated in a charity calendar organised by Diario Sport and UNICEF. Families entered a raffle to have their babies photographed alongside Barcelona players, with all proceeds supporting children’s causes.
Among those selected was six-month-old Lamine Yamal.
Photographer Joan Monfort captured a series of now-iconic images showing Messi gently bathing and holding the infant in a small plastic tub inside the Camp Nou dressing room. At the time, nobody could have imagined that the baby would one day become one of football’s brightest stars.
