A woman’s body has been found wrapped in a duvet at Moroka Dam in Soweto, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The discovery comes just days after police announced a breakthrough in the Dawn Park murder case in Ekurhuleni, where three suspects — one man and two women — were arrested in connection with the murder of the ninth woman in a series of cases involving women whose bodies have been found across Ekurhuleni since July.
The latest discovery in Soweto has raised further concern, but there is currently no confirmation that the Moroka Dam case is connected to the Ekurhuleni investigations.
Police will be expected to establish the identity of the deceased and determine how and where she died.
The circumstances surrounding the discovery, including when the woman died and how her body came to be at the dam, have not yet been fully established.
The investigation remains ongoing.
