A woman has been shot and killed in broad daylight in the Mtubatuba central business district in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
According to information from the scene, the woman was seated at a street-vending table when two young men approached and allegedly opened fire on her in full view of bystanders.
She was reportedly holding a banana in her hand when she was shot. The attackers fled the scene immediately afterwards.
No arrests had been reported at the time of publication, while the motive for the killing remains unknown.
Unconfirmed reports from the area indicate that a man was also shot and killed in Mtubatuba last week. However, it has not been established whether the two incidents are connected.
