Three police officers have appeared in court after being accused of accepting a bribe to release undocumented foreign nationals in Evaton.

Officers Named

The accused are:

  • Monyane Booyzen Lebeko (46)
  • Mmarena Malasenya (27)
  • Peter Easyboy Machama Kumalo (50)

Allegations

It is alleged that the officers:

  • Released individuals who had been arrested for being in the country illegally
  • Accepted a R1,000 bribe in exchange for their release

Court Appearance

The three officers have since:

  • Appeared in court
  • Been granted bail
