Police have intensified investigations after the body of a woman was discovered in Moroka, Soweto.
The discovery was made on Tuesday, 15 September, after a community member came across the body and alerted others. Moroka police were subsequently notified and attended the scene.
Police have opened an inquest as they work to establish the identity of the woman and the circumstances surrounding her death.
At this stage, the circumstances leading to her death remain unclear, and police have not confirmed whether foul play was involved.
Forensic examinations are expected to assist investigators in identifying the deceased and determining what happened to her.
The discovery has drawn concern in the community as police continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
There is currently no confirmed link between this case and the separate investigations into women found dead in Ekurhuleni.
The investigation is ongoing.
