Police have confirmed that the woman found dead behind a hotel in Rhodesfield, Kempton Park, on Saturday, 12 September 2026, was missing runner Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo.
The 38-year-old’s family positively identified her body at the Germiston mortuary on Monday, 14 September. The identification follows days of searching and uncertainty over her whereabouts. EWN
Moselakgomo disappeared after leaving her Kempton Park home for a run on Wednesday, 9 September. When she failed to return that evening, her eight-year-old daughter contacted relatives, who reported her missing to police. Kempton Express
Before the identification, her family had appealed to the public not to circulate unverified information while they awaited confirmation.
Acting national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Puleng Dimpane has conveyed her condolences to the Moselakgomo family and said police would pursue those responsible.
A multidisciplinary team is investigating the deaths of women in the Kempton Park and Olifantsfontein areas. Investigators are examining possible links between the cases, but police have not confirmed that the deaths are connected. EWN
