Police have arrested a close associate of businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala over allegations that the person helped him falsify documents used to secure a luxury property in Pretoria at a monthly rent of R95,000.
The property, in Waterkloof Ridge, was reportedly secured through a two-year lease signed in January 2025. Reports have previously alleged that Matlala and his wife used false identities and documentation during the process.
The 2,000-square-metre property was reportedly rented for R95,000 a month, with Matlala allegedly paying close to R1.2 million towards the first 12 months of rent.
The arrest adds another development to the criminal investigations surrounding Matlala, who is facing a number of serious allegations and criminal charges.
The allegations surrounding the property remain subject to the criminal investigation and any eventual court proceedings.
