Off-Duty Free State Police Officer Allegedly Kills Three People Before Taking His Own Life

A 47-year-old police officer has allegedly shot six people, killing three and injuring two others, before turning the firearm on himself in Hennenman.

According to preliminary reports, the officer had finished his shift shortly after midnight and allegedly went looking for his girlfriend.

When he was unable to find her, he reportedly approached her uncle, and the pair then travelled to a family gathering where they believed she might be.

Upon arriving at the event, the officer was allegedly informed that the woman was not there. An argument reportedly broke out, after which the officer allegedly opened fire on people at the scene.

The girlfriend’s mother was among those killed, along with the girlfriend’s uncle and a 25-year-old woman.

Two other victims sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

After the shooting, the officer allegedly turned the firearm on himself and died at the scene.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive for the shooting and the relationship between those involved.

The tragedy has left the local community in shock as authorities continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
