South African politician and academic Naledi Pandor has officially been installed as the new Chancellor of Nelson Mandela University.
In her first address, the former Minister of Education emphasised the importance of excellence and responsibility across all levels of the institution.
“We owe a legacy to all the founders of our democracy to express our gratitude by being hard working quality students, quality academics, quality administrators, quality university leaders and quality leaders of society,” she said.
Pandor also expressed confidence in the future of the university, highlighting her expectations as she takes on the role.
“I am certain that this is what I will see and experience in this increasingly great institution as I serve you as Chancellor,” she added.
Her appointment marks a significant moment for the institution, with expectations that her leadership and experience will contribute to its continued growth and academic excellence.
