Madlanga Commission Reveals List of People Major-General Feroz Khan Was Allegedly Communicating With

The Madlanga Commission has revealed the names of several prominent individuals who were allegedly in communication with Major-General Feroz Khan, based on data extracted from devices linked to the senior police officer.

The disclosure follows Khan’s decision to withdraw legal applications aimed at preventing the Commission from accessing the devices and the information stored on them.

According to the Commission, the extracted data allegedly shows communications between Khan and a number of politicians, businesspeople and law enforcement figures.

Among those reportedly identified are Julius Malema, murder accused Matipandile Sotheni, businessman Ze Nxumalo, Adriano Mazzotti, Mohammad Sayed, Tariq Downes, Ritaf Bhamjee, Uzzi Jhetam, Adam Timm, Serge Cabonge, Jason Saus, Shaheem Ismail, Yaseen Theba, Feroz Essay, Shiraz Mohammed, Yusuf Cajee and Hassan Mohammed.

The Commission has not suggested that communication with Khan amounts to wrongdoing, nor has it accused the individuals named of any offence. The significance and context of the communications are expected to be explored during the inquiry.

The revelation has nevertheless sparked interest because it provides a glimpse into the network of individuals Khan was allegedly communicating with before being called to testify.

Khan is scheduled to appear before the Commission on 1 July 2026 and is expected to answer questions relating to the contents of the devices and matters under investigation.
