Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi and three other senior Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality officials have been arrested.
The other officials taken into custody are Imogen Mashazi, Kemi Bihari, the municipality’s Head of Legal, and former Head of Human Resources Linda Gxasheka.
The arrests reportedly form part of the implementation of recommendations made by the President following ongoing investigations.
While the exact charges against the four officials have not yet been disclosed, all of them have previously testified before the Madlanga Commission.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning, where more details about the charges are expected to emerge.
