Julius Malema Says Learners Should Get Free School Uniforms Just Like Prisoners, Calls for 24-Hour Free Wi-Fi

EFF leader Julius Malema says school uniforms should be provided free of charge to learners, arguing that children should not carry financial burdens for access to education.

Speaking at a recent engagement, Malema compared learners to prisoners and said if the government is able to provide prison uniforms at no cost, it should also be able to provide school uniforms for free.

He also called for free public Wi-Fi available 24 hours a day, saying internet access has become essential for education, access to information and economic participation.

Malema further criticised young people who continue to support the African National Congress, questioning why some youth remain loyal to the governing party despite ongoing challenges facing the country.

His comments sparked debate online, with supporters describing the proposals as pro-poor and education focused, while critics questioned how such measures would be funded and implemented.
