A brazen and deadly shooting in Rabie Ridge, near Tembisa, has left two people dead after armed suspects launched an attack at a local tavern before turning their guns on a metro police officer during their escape.
As the suspects fled the scene, the situation escalated further. Witnesses say the gunmen began firing shots into the air while escaping, seemingly to intimidate residents and prevent anyone from attempting to stop them. The sound of gunfire created chaos in the surrounding area, with bystanders forced to run for safety.

In the midst of this, a Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officer became caught in the line of danger. It is understood that the officer tried to get into a vehicle and flee as the suspects approached, but was shot and killed before managing to escape.
