Four undocumented foreign nationals have been arrested in Primrose after they were allegedly caught stripping stolen Telkom copper cables at a suspected hijacked property.
The arrests were carried out by the EMPD Northern Region Task Team during an operation on Doris Street in Primrose.
According to authorities, officers discovered the suspects allegedly processing and stripping copper cables believed to have been stolen from telecommunications infrastructure.
The operation was conducted at a property suspected of being hijacked and used for illegal activities.
The four suspects were arrested and detained at Primrose SAPS pending further investigation.
Police are continuing their probe into the theft of copper cables and the ongoing vandalism of critical infrastructure, crimes that have caused major disruptions to communication services and resulted in significant financial losses.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling infrastructure-related crimes, which remain a major challenge across several parts of the country.
