Eight people, including two children, have died in a head-on collision on the N17 toll road between Davel and Ermelo in Mpumalanga.
The crash occurred near the Ermelo Toll Plaza at approximately 1:30am on Sunday and involved a Toyota Corolla and a Volkswagen sedan.
According to preliminary information, seven of the victims were travelling together in the Volkswagen, while the eighth person was the sole occupant of the Toyota. All eight occupants were declared dead.
The victims comprise six adults and two minors.
The cause of the collision remains unknown and is expected to form part of an investigation by authorities.
Motorists travelling on the N17 have been urged to approach the area cautiously and follow directions from emergency personnel. (Arrive Alive)
