The Economic Freedom Fighters says more than 100,000 young people attended its June 16 Youth Day Rally held at the Union Buildings.
Following the event, the party described the gathering as an iconic moment and pointed to the turnout as proof of its support among young people.
In a statement shared after the rally, the EFF said:
“What an iconic moment! Close to 100,000 young people have gathered at the #EFFJune16Rally at the Union Buildings in Tshwane to commemorate the youth of 1976.”
The party also used the moment to make a broader political statement about its growth and influence.
“This organisation is too big. It was not made by the media, and it will never be destroyed by the media.”
The rally formed part of Youth Day commemorations marking the legacy of the Soweto Uprising, while also serving as a platform for the party to engage young supporters and outline its political message.
