Claudette Masethe told the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court that she is unemployed and survives on a monthly allowance of R60,000 from her boyfriend.
Masethe made the disclosure on Wednesday while appearing in a fraud case linked to an allegedly fraudulent lease agreement for a luxury property in Waterkloof.
She is accused number four in the matter, alongside Tsakane Matlala, Given Makofane and Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, who is accused number one.
The three suspects arrested on Tuesday — Masethe, Tsakane Matlala and Makofane — were each granted R20,000 bail on Wednesday. Their case was postponed to 29 October. (EWN)
The State alleges that fraudulent documentation was used in connection with the lease of the Waterkloof property, which was reportedly secured at R95,000 a month. (EWN)
The allegations have not been tested in court, and the accused remain presumed innocent unless found guilty.
