Serious allegations have emerged involving Kaizer Chiefs executive Bobby Motaung, following claims made during a press briefing by suspended police official Daphney Manamela.
Claims of Payment and Interference
According to the allegations, Major General Botsotso Moukangwe reportedly claimed that Motaung paid him and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola an amount of R5 million.
It is alleged that the payment was intended to ensure that Manamela would not be reinstated to her position.
Concerns Over Case Dockets
Further claims suggest that Manamela’s potential return to duty was seen as a risk, with concerns that she could reopen old case dockets, including matters allegedly linked to the killing of Jimmy Mohlala.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place around January 2025 in Montana, Pretoria.
Alleged Statements by Senior Officer
It is further alleged that Moukangwe indicated he felt protected, suggesting that the involvement of senior officials meant Manamela would not return to office.
