EFF leader Julius Malema has accused East London Magistrate Twanet Oliver of acting under external influence following his sentencing.
Malema made the remarks while addressing supporters outside court after being sentenced to five years in prison in his firearm discharge case.
Claims of External Influence
Malema alleged that the magistrate was being controlled by what he described as a “Master” with an agenda against him.
“There is an invisible hand that is controlling the proceedings,” he said.
He further criticised Magistrate Oliver for requesting time to consider granting leave to appeal, claiming she needed to “get instructions” before making a decision.
Afriforum Allegation
Malema also claimed that AfriForum is behind his prosecution, suggesting the case is politically motivated.
Released Pending Appeal
Despite the sentence, Malema was released on warning pending the finalisation of his appeal.
