Tsakane Matlala told the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court that she is unemployed, owns no assets and relies on her parents to support her and her three minor children.

The court ultimately granted her R20,000 bail in the alleged fraudulent lease case.
Matlala is accused alongside her husband, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, and co-accused Given Makofane and Claudette Masethe in a matter involving an allegedly fraudulent lease for a Waterkloof Heights property reportedly rented for R95,000 a month. The State alleges that fraudulent documents were used to secure the lease.
The State did not oppose bail for Tsakane and the two other co-accused. They were each granted R20,000 bail, subject to conditions including not contacting State witnesses and reporting to a police station.
The matter has been postponed to 29 October 2026 for further investigations.
The allegations have not been tested in court, and the accused remain presumed innocent unless found guilty.
