Taxi industry figure Oupa “Bafana” Sindane is seeking to delay his appearance before the Madlanga Commission, where he is expected to testify on alleged links within the taxi industry and its financial networks.
Sindane’s legal team has brought an application seeking the postponement of his testimony, which was scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
The application is set to be heard at 9:30am, with Sindane required to attend in case the postponement is refused. (SABC News)
Sindane is expected to face questions about financial records, stokvel dealings, payments he allegedly received from taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni, as well as text messages exchanged between the two.
Sindane and Sibanyoni are also co-accused in a pending Kwaggafontein extortion and money-laundering case. (SABC News)
His legal team’s application will now determine whether Sindane takes the stand today or whether his testimony is postponed.
