Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s wife, Tsakane Matlala, has been arrested in connection with an alleged fraudulent lease agreement, according to information emerging on Tuesday.
Tsakane is reportedly the second suspect arrested in connection with the alleged fraud involving a property secured through the disputed lease agreement.
The development comes after police arrested a close associate of Matlala for allegedly helping him falsify documents used to secure a property reportedly worth R95,000 a month in rent.
Tsakane is already facing separate criminal charges alongside her husband and three other accused in the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg. The group faces 25 charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, fraud, money laundering and defeating the ends of justice.
The latest arrest adds another layer to the criminal investigations surrounding the Matlalas.
The allegations have not been tested in court, and Tsakane Matlala remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
