A woman has escaped an alleged kidnapping attempt in Kempton Park, adding to concerns over the safety of women in the area following a series of recent incidents.
The attempted kidnapping allegedly happened on Sunday night, 13 September 2026.
The woman managed to escape and subsequently went to the Kempton Park Police Station, where she gave a statement to police about the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged attempted abduction and the identity of those involved have not yet been publicly disclosed.
The incident comes amid heightened concern in Kempton Park after the bodies of several women were discovered in the area in recent months.
Police recently mobilised a multidisciplinary team of detectives, forensic specialists, tracking teams, K9 units and investigative psychology experts to investigate the deaths of four women whose bodies were discovered around Kempton Park between July and September.
Acting Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana has stressed that police have not established that those cases are connected or that a single perpetrator is responsible.
Investigators are considering different possibilities and have urged the public not to prematurely link separate incidents without evidence.
The latest alleged kidnapping attempt is therefore not confirmed to have any connection to the deaths currently under investigation.
