Admitted Attorney Fortune Sloane Reflects on Working at Spar While Studying Law

Admitted attorney Fortune Sloane has opened up about her experience working at Spar while pursuing her law studies, recalling what she describes as a difficult and toxic period that ultimately led her to resign.

Reflecting on her journey, Sloane recalled requesting leave to sit for her examinations and handing her manager her examination timetable.

She said the manager became visibly agitated after discovering that she was studying law.

According to Sloane, her manager questioned why she was working at Spar if she was studying towards a legal career.

She said the treatment she received at work allegedly became increasingly difficult from that point, eventually pushing her to leave the job.

Despite the experience, Sloane says she looks back on the period with humility, recognising it as part of the journey that ultimately led her to becoming an admitted attorney of the High Court.

Her story has resonated with others who have had to balance work and studies while pursuing professional careers, particularly those who have worked outside their chosen fields to support themselves during their studies.
