Prominent Limpopo anti-drug activist and founder of a crime and gangsterism rehabilitation organisation, Philly Moloto (51), appeared before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday following his arrest a day earlier.
Moloto is facing two counts of malicious damage to property in connection with incidents that allegedly took place in the Seshego and Westenburg policing precincts on 28 June 2026.
According to police, the incidents involved the alleged burning of a rehabilitation centre’s signboard in Ladanna and the torching of a Toyota Hilux in Seshego. The fire reportedly spread to a nearby house where seven people were asleep, causing damage estimated at R800,000.
Moloto was arrested on Monday during an intelligence-driven operation at his home in Welgelegen, Polokwane, after investigators allegedly linked him to both incidents.
Police say investigations are continuing.
