A woman from Durban has reportedly been caught pretending to be a Malawian national after allegedly trying to leave South Africa with her Malawian boyfriend during the ongoing repatriation of undocumented Malawian nationals.
According to reports, the woman falsely claimed to be from Malawi in an attempt to board one of the buses transporting undocumented Malawian nationals back to their home country. Authorities, however, discovered that she is a South African citizen before she could leave.
The incident comes amid the large-scale repatriation and deportation process involving thousands of undocumented Malawian nationals who have been staying at Sherwood Hall in Durban while awaiting transport back to Malawi.
It remains unclear whether the woman will face any legal action following the incident.
