Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi and Kemi Behari have been granted R50,000 bail each, but they will remain in custody overnight after the court heard that the bail payment office had already closed.
The pair are expected to pay their bail on Friday, after which they will be released.
During proceedings, Mkhwanazi told the court that he would have to borrow money to afford the R50,000 bail amount.
The matter remains before the court as investigations continue.
