Tiffany Meek, the woman accused of murdering her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, appeared before the Johannesburg High Court, sitting in Palm Ridge, on Thursday as her case continues through the courts.
Meek faces several charges linked to her son’s death, including murder, crimen injuria, defeating the ends of justice, and attempting to obstruct justice. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges and maintains that she had no involvement in her son’s death.
Jayden-Lee’s body was discovered in May 2025 near a staircase at the residential complex where the family lived in Fleurhof, west of Johannesburg, after he had initially been reported missing. Prosecutors allege that the child returned home from school and was later killed inside the residence before the scene was allegedly staged. Meek denies these allegations.
During earlier court proceedings, Meek told the court that she intended to use the trial to clear her name and disputed key parts of the State’s case, including evidence relating to her son’s school bag and allegations concerning blood found in the apartment.
The matter remains before the High Court as proceedings continue.
