Former Imogen Mashazi is facing scrutiny over allegations that a luxury overseas trip aboard a private jet was funded by businessman Ze Nxumalo.
According to reports, the trip allegedly cost R3.35 million and was paid for by Nxumalo while Mashazi was serving as City Manager of the City of Ekurhuleni.
It is further alleged that Mashazi was accompanied on the international leisure trip by her husband, as well as another couple.
The allegations have raised questions about the nature of the relationship between the former municipal official and the businessman, as well as whether any conflict of interest may have existed.
Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the trip as part of broader investigations into governance and financial dealings involving public officials.
