Six undocumented foreign nationals were arrested in Durban on Friday following a multi-disciplinary law enforcement operation targeting business compliance in the city centre.
According to authorities, Bylaw Special Operations, working alongside various municipal departments, conducted a Gijima Multi-Disciplinary Operation at Boardwalk Arcade in the Durban CBD.
The operation focused on business compliance inspections, with officials assessing whether businesses were complying with municipal by-laws, labour regulations and immigration laws.
During the inspections, six undocumented foreign nationals were identified, verified and arrested for allegedly being in South Africa illegally.
The suspects are currently being processed at Durban Central SAPS>.
Authorities say the operation forms part of ongoing integrated law enforcement efforts aimed at ensuring compliance with South African laws and promoting a safer, lawful business environment.
The Durban Metro Police said it remains committed to supporting operations that target non-compliance and unlawful activity within business spaces.
