Podcaster and media personality Ngizwe Mchunu, popularly known as “Mlando”, has escalated his feud with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) by demanding a retraction and public apology from EFF Member of Parliament Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi.
The move follows Mchunu’s recent public fallout with EFF leader Julius Malema.
According to reports, Mchunu has instructed ** Zuma Attorneys** to issue a formal legal letter to Mkhaliphi, demanding that she withdraw comments allegedly made about him and publicly apologise within seven days.
The letter, reportedly seen by MDN News, states that Mkhaliphi made the remarks during a live interview on SABC News on 19 May 2026, where she allegedly claimed that Mchunu was “being paid by white monopoly capitalists to disrupt the EFF.”
According to the legal letter, Mchunu argues the allegations are false, defamatory and harmful to his reputation, claiming they portray him as dishonest, politically compromised and influenced by undisclosed financial interests.
The dispute comes amid growing tensions between Mchunu and EFF leaders.
In April 2026, Mchunu publicly accused Malema of allegedly receiving a R60 million bribe from Nigerian drug dealers in exchange for political protection, claims for which he did not provide evidence.
Malema later responded with a R1 million defamation lawsuit, while in May 2026, the North Gauteng High Court finalised an interim interdict against Mchunu.
The court ordered him to stop making defamatory remarks about Malema, retract previous statements, issue an apology and pay punitive legal costs. Despite the ruling, Mchunu reportedly said he would not pay “a single cent.”
It remains unclear whether Mkhaliphi will respond to the legal demand or issue the requested apology.
